IRCC Introduces New Regulations for Spouses and Common-Law Partners of Study Permit Holders
On March 19, 2024, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) unveiled updated guidelines concerning spouses and common-law partners of individuals holding study permits. These revisions specifically impact partners of full-time students engaged in graduate programs, professional degree programs, and those possessing a valid open work permit under the C42 category, which extends their authorization as partners of students in a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) eligible program at a designated institution. Notably, applications submitted prior to March 18, 2024, remain unaffected by these adjustments.
